The kids asked us recently what we want for Xmas, and honestly, I want nothing! I wipe the floor with the tears I shed in gratitude for all the blessings I have received in my life. Many charities are gasping to survive during the pandemic. What I want is kindness and miracles.
Kindness: No more trash talk on social media or anywhere else based on politics, religion or now public health. How about we find someone we disagree with and say something kind and generous? Yes, I’ve got a few for whom this will be hard, too. But imagine if we all just agreed to stop it. I’ve been off Facebook since January. Nobody died. Well actually, if they did, and I was supposed to find out from Facebook, I still don’t know. Not that I have anything against Facebook in particular, It was how people were using the forum. What if we all went out of our way to say something nice to everyone we interact with from now to New Year’s Eve? What a year end!
Miracles: Our world needs so many miracles right now. Saving all the people sick with COVID and all the other diseases caused by poverty and lack of access to medicine that COVID exasperates. If I had a wand, I’d wave it right now. Poof! They would all be gone.
Even when we get the vaccine out to everyone, and the economy recovers and this awful virus is in the rear view mirror, I propose we continue to come from kindness. It costs us nothing. It is something we each can practice ourselves, everyday. And, it will make a difference in the world. How cool is that!
