This first week of the new administration in Washington has been full of executive orders, firings, pardons for convicted felons, termination of programs extant since the 1960’s, and senate confirmation of individuals who have never run an organization the size and complexity of what they were nominated to run.  Interestingly, tariffs except against our closest trading partners are in the background.

Right now in California, we are overwhelmed with the catastrophic effects of the fires. We need help from the federal government just like No. Carolina needed it after the hurricane. Trump has said he wants to eliminate FEMA and that California will have to trade with him to get help.

At least some of this will likely affect your business. Just the time one has to spend assessing the impact is a distraction.  But the flurry of one controversy after another can become overwhelming, but don’t stick your head in the sand and do nothing. First, put on your own mask – get clear focus on your business strategy and pick the priorities that are most needed to survive the disruption. Then, help those around you to put theirs on, too.

If you thought electing Trump was going to result in something different from this, reach out to your Congress Members and Senators and tell them so. Republican Congress Members will need your vote for the courage to face up to the promised retribution against naysayers.
