You may have started the year with earnest resolutions to eat less, exercise more, spend more time with loved ones, etc., and now it is one month in to the year. How are you doing? Tell me, did anything go right?
Honestly, I didn’t even make any resolutions knowing I would be on vacation until January 10th and had a work trip for the last 5 days of the month. So now I face February with some issues I haven’t tackled. I need to get back to resistance training and stretching and resume daily practice towards getting up off the floor without using a hand. Oh, and breathe/meditate for 12 minutes twice a day. Game on.
One of my Members is going dry for February and I think I should too. After all, If you are not going to drink for a month February is the shortest month of the year. It could help me lose a few pounds. Wine makes food taste better so it would be a “win-win.”
When my Vistage groups worked on Atomic Habits last fall, we set goals and got granular on what days, and exactly what time we were going to practice the specific habit. Further, we set accountability partners with prescheduled check in times. One pair lost 10 pounds between them in the first month.
I know I practiced getting up off the floor every day until I went on vacation, but that threw me completely off schedule. So, to my 2 KEY group members on my accountability team, I commit today to getting back into it today. And, to my CE Member who is doing dry February, I’ll do it with you.
Finding a partner to hold you accountable is the magic sauce to keeping a habit going. This week find one to help you keep those resolutions, and have some fun doing it.
