7 months into WFH, hey, we didn’t even have an acronym for Work from Home 7 months ago, yes well as I was saying, so much has changed, yet it seems the “hereness,” the sameness, the “no end in sight-ness” continues.
Don’t be fooled. Much has changed and we need to change a lot in response.
Like what?
If you are still in business, still have a job, are still healthy or have recovered, be so grateful. Breathe deeply ’cause here we go:
You probably will have to change almost everything about how you do business. Oh, you already have? No, I mean even more. Survival is not the same as thriving. In 2 years, who will be thriving: those who envision what the world will be like with the universal acceptance of meeting by Zoom, of working from home, of remote workforce all over the world, of cheap capital, of underused workers, of the medical changes that will be required….it goes beyond my crystal ball’s vision.
Let’s take an example. If you are hanging on to a business that is in hospitality or entertainment, or event planning, what will that world look like when we can travel again? We may not want to do it the way we did in the past. So rethink your offerings.
Now is the time to come out with a new idea. If you have a product or service that will innovate or capitalize on this new world get going with it. Someone else may be 2 years ahead of you.
And, if you have divisions in your organization that are losing money and draining all your resources and people, cut them now. I know it hurts. If it won’t make your future world more wildly successful, if it is not an investment in a new concept to please customers, or to save money or to go to market, stop it.
Blame Covid.
