Chasing the latest and greatest AI tools feels like children chasing bubbles at the park. The bubbles are big, small, lovely, and floating past. They pop so quickly. Time to chase the next and the next. Giggles, excitement, getting covered in soapy popped bubbles, all part of the experience.

When the bubble maker dips into the soapy water to fill the net, the kiddos can’t wait for the next burst. They scream as they see the new bubbles emerge.

The taller kids can reach the bigger bubbles and  can take advantage of their height. So it is for the coders among us. They are creating agents and applications now that are putting their companies at the forefront of AI’s successful application.

Meanwhile, some of the rest of us are enjoying poking at the bubbles for now.

If you or your team is spending nights and weekends figuring out AI tools that will improve processes, gather data faster, analyze the competition, find new vendors and approach new customers, you aren’t just poking at bubbles. So who is doing the regular work of making products or providing services while the coders/changers are developing new tools? If you aren’t backstopping them, they will burn out. I’m seeing it happen in real time. Pay attention to rewarding and acknowledging them. And yourself if you are the one creating all the new processes.

If you don’t have this capability inside your organization, try using consultants to train the team or create new processes. You cannot afford to delay. Most Vistage Groups are having an AI segment each meeting to share applications they have developed. We are also having experts in AI speak to our groups 2-4 times a year.

You cannot afford to be the organizations poking at bubbles. Leave that to the kids.

If you don’t think Vistage peer groups get value at every meeting-from the speakers, the conversations, a wise Chair, and the input from your peers, don’t click here.
