It is a year from now, Dec 1. 2025, and you are sitting in a comfy chair with an afghan on your lap (or a poodle). You think back over the last year, and you feel a sense of accomplishment. What goals did you set in December of 2024 that you achieved because of the way you executed your plans? What intermediate steps did you lay out? How did you measure your progress? When did you reset to get better results?

Okay, so this is classic business planning. And, this year you added on some tools from James Clear’s Atomic Habits. You chose one or two daily habits that would help you reach smaller goals that built to the larger goals.

In my September Key Group meeting, I set the goal to improve hip strength so I can get up off of the floor without putting a hand down. My every day practice is 5 minutes of hip strengthening exercises I found on youtube. That feeds into my Dec. 1, 2025 goal of feeling like I’m 50 when I’m 70.

For business, I want to be more innovative in my thinking.  I want to learn more AI tools, and read at least one business book each month. I feel like I am falling behind in my yearly goal of staying current in business and I have a growing pile of unread books. So, I am scheduling a 2 hour uninterrupted block on Monday and Friday from 1-3 for learning. And, I will keep a log of what I learned/read in that time.

I’m not done with setting my goals, but like all the good entrepreneurs that I coach, if I can see it, I can create it.

So, what future do you see for yourself and how do you plan to create it in 2025?
