This has been one of the toughest weeks I’ve had in 30 years. Perhaps you noticed that I did not post last week. I was knocked out with COVID and sleeping 20 hours a day. It got worse on Monday and I went to the ER where they gave me IV fluids and assured me I wasn’t going to die. I had become crazy dehydrated. Just rest and drink fluids.
I tested negative this last Friday and I am getting better slowly. Yay! EVERYONE is telling me that the key to not getting long COVID is to rest A LOT. So, that is what I am doing.
Here is what I know about being knocked down health wise: you can get better. You can be stronger than before you had a baby, got chicken pox as an adult or got COVID. One day at a time. Not overdoing it. Listening to your body. Loving yourself and being patient.
If you know me, being patient and not over pushing is my challenge. I did a lot of focused breathing while down and out. From the book Breath by Jim Nestor, I worked on building up the CO2 in my body by 2 quick breaths in and 4 count long breath out. It helped stop the coughing.
For 2 1/2 years I’ve been afraid of catching COVID. Ironically, I got the new booster a week before I got COVID. I can’t imagine how I would have been if I wasn’t vaccinated and boosted. Now, I have to avoid long COVID. Just rest, and more rest. I can do that. Don’t believe COVID has passed. Please get the new booster and take care of yourself. And, be kind to those who get it. My brain fog is clearing. Don’t ask me to do calculus today. Or, tomorrow.
